  2. Explaining literary techniques, but failing to explain significance.
  3. Jumping into question without fully understanding the question.
  4. Answering question based on knowledge of major themes, without tweaking it to really answer the question.
  5. Failing to plan before writing.
  6. Not building the vocabulary to express ideas succinctly and accurately.
  7. Not understanding how to structure an essay and sounding repetitive.
  8. Having little faith in their ideas, hence expecting model answers.
  9. Copying model answers, but failing to apply them correctly.
  10. Spending too little time familiarising themselves with the texts.
